What You Will Do:

  • Conduct initial psychiatric patient assessments to determine medication and treatment needs
  • Prescribe medications and treatments with attention to existing medical diagnoses and concomitant therapies
  • Meet with patients in a timely manner in order to monitor progress and recommend necessary changes to their medication regimen and treatment interventions
  • Document all evaluations of and interactions with patients including the administration of medications and treatments
  • Complete clinical documentation possibly including but not limited to psychiatric admission assessments and discharge summaries
  • Use our web-based tracking system to document recommendations for treatment and /or referrals to provide the capability to easily share patient progress with PCPs and other treating providers
  • Ensure that all protected health information (PHI) in local computer/networks is stored in compliance with HIPAA regulations as specified in the Provider Agreement. Delete all temporarily stored PHI promptly as soon as the information is no longer needed. Functions under the direct supervision of the Medical Director in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care, Standards of Practice for Registered Professional Nurse as directed by the State Board of Nursing, Nursing Service and Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures

What You Will Need:

  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification in good standing and current state nursing license
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
  • Knowledge of medical diagnoses, appropriate treatments and medical terminology, approved detoxification regimens, addiction medicine and substance abuse disorders, co-occurring disorders, DSM Criteria and terminology
  • Experience working with underserved, transient populations and clinical co‐morbidities such as co-existing mental health, substance abuse and physical health conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively and edit work for spelling and grammar
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations display strong listening skills, ask for clarification when needed, respond well to questions, demonstrate group presentations skills and participate in meetings
  • Ability to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective and evidence-based clinical recommendations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
